Lieutenant Hans-Joachim von Hippel

Hans-Joachim von Hippel flew the illustrated Albatross while serving with Jasta 5. I have found out little about this German pilot so if anyone can help me with some information please call me and let me know what you have on him. I do know for a fact that he was not an ace so he probably was injured or killed. Thanks!

Albatross D.Va

A 170/185-hp 6-cylinder Mercedes D IIIa engine powered the Albatross. Maximum speed was 109 to 120 mph with a ceiling of 18,000 to 20,000 feet. The fighter was armed with two 7.92-mm synchronized Spandau machine guns. The camouflage on the upper wing area was standard while the rest of the aircraft was painted as the pilot requested. The fighter’s abilities were considered excellent.
